Springtime events!
April 27th, 2010What a wonderful time of the year. Baseball games, softball games, bass fishing, golf, and many other outdoor events are taking place all around. It is a really great time of year to take in one of the many events offered in your community. Get out and go see that ace softball pitcher or that baseball slugger you have heard about and haven’t seen in person yet. As nice of a service as our network of streaming sites offer, it just can never replace being at the game when the no hitter is pitched or the walk-off homerun sails over the fence. We are truly excited, however, that we can bring it to so many people through our websites that just can’t be there because of the many different circumstances. One of the highlights of our year so far was hearing from a mom in Iraq that was watching her baby girl play first base live on our yourschoollive.com site while she was serving our country. What a touching moment! We hope all of you are having a nice spring and have the time to check out some of our live upcoming events as well as some of our exciting archived events which are available for viewing anytime. God Bless.

Blast from Chilton County Alabama!
February 22nd, 2010Check out Chilton County High in Alabama for the latest new event, in a recent string of new ones, on the yourschoollive.com network. They held a musical titled “Blast from the Past”. It was a very entertaining performance involving 150 students. They appear to have a really good school where participation in this type of event is encouraged by the leadership and parents. Congratulations to Chilton County on a fabulous presentation!
Another First for YSL
February 18th, 2010An elementary beauty pageant was streamed live and archived for Marengo Academy last night. (Another first for yourschoollive.com) We had over 50 viewers for the live broadcast. According to event sponsors, the attendance was as strong as ever and the live broadcast allowed family members and grandparents who live outside the area a chance to see their little girls in this event when they otherwise would not have had the opportunity. Awesome to keep hearing these stories as we continue to discover new events to broadcast live. Watch later this week as Chilton County will broadcast a “Blast from the Past Musical”. (Another first for YSL)
First Live Bass Fishing Tournament!
February 16th, 2010This weekend marked the first Southern Collegiate Bass Fishing Series Tournament of the season on Lake Guntersville, AL, and we were there to stream it live.
This was the first ever fishing event carried on our network and the action was competitive and real! Jann, Jenny, Darrel, and the crew orgnaized a very nice event and worked long and hard right through a “blizzard” by Alabama standards. I heard Jenny Swaim, with Auburn University, say ”the enthusiasm of the anglers is what keeps us going” through the tough weather conditions! The first day saw a 11.06 lb bass caught by Matt Lee with Birmingham Southern. Incredible fish for any bass tournament both amateaur and professional! There were 71 boats competing from 26 different colleges and universities. The one thing that stuck with me through the whole event was how level the playing field was. Freed Hardeman University fielded a team and was leading after the first day of the two day event over schools such as Auburn, Tennessee, Georgia, Purdue, Alabama, Mississippi State, Clemson, and many other large universities. One of the 4 Alabama teams won the 2 day format tournament. The anglers were very competitive and stayed out all day in some extreme weather conditions on Friday. These collegiate bass anglers showed a genuine dedication and love for their sport. I think I have found me a new favorite sport to watch. Next month we will be streaming the NPSAA’s National Basketball Tournament March 3-5, the inaugural Alabama High School Bass Club’s tournament on March 6, and another Southern Collegiate Bass Fishing Series tournament March 12-13 on Pickwick. Keep an eye on our site for new news and upcoming broadcasts……………………………. 11.06 lbs! Wow!!!
Bass Fishing coming soon!
February 9th, 2010We are pleased to announce our upcoming broadcasts with the Alabama High School Bass Fishing Club beginning March 6 on Wheeler Lake. Tim Tidwell is organizing the tournaments this year and we are very excited to carry all the weigh-ins on our site. The beauty of the sport on a high school level is the fact that any kid can participate and any school can match up against another school no matter what size!! Congrats to Tim on launching this exciting organization. Check out their website here to get involved: http://alhsbf.ning.com/
